Sketch book (3) Chinese Opera

Finally, I went to Chinese Opera in person!

The Chinese opera I saw was not completed which was two parts of two stories. It was for tourists to understand the pith of Chinese opera. This was the brief of the performance:

    Picking up the Jade Bracelet
Starring: NTCPA Chinese Opera
One day, when Sun Yujiao, a young girl, is doing embroidery work in front of her house, a young scholar named Fu Peng passes by, and they fall in love with each other. Fu drops a jade bracelet on purpose to express his love, and Sun picks it up. This was seen by Madam Liu, a matchmaker. Later, Liu promises Sun to act as matchmaker for them, and asks Sun for an embroidered shoe as a token of love.

Gift of Pearl at the Rainbow Bridge
Starring: NTCPA Chinese Opera
An Urban Legend . Mysterious city under the water lives a beautiful Lin-Bo Fairy. She met human, Mr. Bai, and married him at the Rainbow Bridge. She gave him a precious pearl to protect himself. This act made the emperor of the heaven angry, so he send General of the Heaven, Jia-Lan, Na-Jia, Thousand Miles Eye, Hear with the Wind, and soldiers of the Heaven to capture her. This performance will incorporate most of traditional Peking Opera’s high acrobatic skills such as flips, kung fu art, throwing and kicking Chinese fighting sticks. It’s such a fun and exciting performance.

I observed something I should consider about when I saw the Chinese opera. First of all, The orchestra was on the right side of the stage. The orchestra watched the performers very carefully because they had to see their acting to play the music. Secondly, Their costume were so beautiful, especially their crystal hair accessories. So which means the background of the stage should be simple, otherwise it would hard to focus on the performers. Thirdly, because the second part of the performance was full of kung fu arts, I realized that Chinese opera needs big space to "fighting".
